OUR STORY

South Australia has no shortage of talented music creators, practitioners, and industry workers. What it has often lacked is consistent access to real-world knowledge, clear pathways, and connected industry support that reflects how the music industry actually operates today.

Across the sector, opportunity, information, and networks are often fragmented or concentrated in metropolitan and closed systems, leaving many people to navigate their careers without clear guidance or access to established industry pathways.

Riser Collective was formed by a group of active music industry practitioners with experience across artist development, touring, live music infrastructure, publishing, rights management, and industry development in Australia and internationally. Together, they bring perspectives shaped by work in global music hubs, including Sydney, London, Berlin, Los Angeles, and Nashville, as well as deep involvement in South Australia’s music ecosystem.

Rather than approaching the industry from the outside, Riser is built from within it. It has a commitment to First Nations artists and industry and is shaped by lived, ongoing experience across all levels of the music business.

We exist to make real-world music industry knowledge accessible across South Australia, and to support a more informed, inclusive, and sustainable music community.

Through practitioner-led education, open knowledge sharing, and statewide programs, we work to remove barriers between people and opportunity. Our focus is on how the industry actually functions in practice, and how that knowledge can be translated into accessible pathways for others.

Our role is to turn real industry experience into shared infrastructure, so more people across South Australia can build meaningful, viable, and culturally grounded careers in music.
